Sam Goulding

Samuel Joseph Goulding, 66, of England passed away October 11th, 2022. He died peacefully in his home as a result of mantle cell lymphoma.

Sam was born to an Irish family in Chertsey, England, but split his childhood between Ireland and England. He was raised by Maureen McConaughie and Raymond Goulding with his two sisters, Deirdre and Elaine. As a child, he loved summers in Ireland with his sisters, spending the days from dawn to dusk playing on the beach. As he got older, he spent more time in the London area, exploring different places and honing his craft around things he was passionate about. He began learning about different spiritual practices, which prompted him to explore more around what practices were in the world. This interest took him on a journey to the United States, where another part of his life began.

In his 30s, he met Marti, with whom he started a family. They had four kids, Jessica, Victoria, Patrick, and Hannah. As a family, they enjoyed camping, playing mini-golf, and having car sing-alongs on roadtrips. They spent the first part of their journey as a family in Delaware, near Marti’s family and their work. They then moved to Colorado in 1994, which was a wonderful change of pace to enjoy the beautiful outdoors, and an opportunity for the family to try a new adventure together. Sam helped create a strong household for the family by running his own business in the Roaring Fork Valley, Sam’s Home Improvement. Together, he and Marti worked as entrepreneurs and taught their kids the value of a hard day's work. On the weekends, they would celebrate by going to the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool as a family with a pack lunch, followed by Sunday family movie nights.

In addition to Marti, Jessica, Victoria, Patrick and Hannah, he has a grandchild, Norah, and is survived by his two sisters, Deirdre and Elaine. He was preceded in passing by his father, Raymond, and his mother, Maureen. Sam's memory will live on in both the United States, United Kingdom and Ireland through the family and friends that knew his kind heart and loyal spirit.
